BOCA RATON, FL. — HabCenter Boca Raton has announced that philanthropist and nonprofit leader Denise Fraile will serve as Chair of the 2026 Chopstick Challenge, the organization’s signature summer fundraiser taking place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wyndham Hotel Boca Raton.
“Denise is a force for good in South Florida, and we couldn’t be more honored to have her chairing the 2026 Chopstick Challenge,” said Sherry A. Henry, CEO of HabCenter Boca Raton. “This event is all about community, connection, and celebration. Denise embodies those values completely. Her leadership will help us raise critical funds and shine a much-deserved spotlight on our mission to help adults with differences live lives of true dignity and independence.” Unlike traditional fundraising galas and luncheons, the Chopstick Challenge is designed to be fun, interactive, and community focused.
The event invites guests to cheer on local executives and community leaders as they compete in a lighthearted chopstick skills competition, all while supporting HabCenter’s mission of empowering adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live with dignity, respect, and independence. The evening will also feature a Makers Market, raffles, local vendors, food, drinks, and plenty of festivities, creating an atmosphere that is equal parts celebration and philanthropy. Guests will enjoy food provided by Red Pine Restaurant & Bar and Farmer’s Table while supporting innovative, community-based programs that help adults with differences thrive.
Fraile, known for her collaborative approach to philanthropy and community engagement, said she was honored to support an organization whose mission focuses on empowerment, inclusion, and opportunity. “One of the things I love most about the Chopstick Challenge is that it breaks the mold of the traditional fundraiser,” said Fraile. “It’s fun, engaging, and brings people together in a unique way, but behind the laughter and friendly competition is an incredibly important mission. HabCenter creates opportunities, independence, and community for the individuals it serves, and I’m honored to help champion that work.” Founded in 1978, HabCenter Boca Raton has spent decades helping adults with differences build meaningful, independent lives through innovative programs and services.
The Chopstick Challenge raises critical funds to support those efforts while introducing new supporters to the organization’s life-changing mission. This year’s event will be supported by an enthusiastic committee that includes Mindy Shikiar, Emily Grabelsky, Jennifer Kovacs, Anika Wali, Sherry Henry, Freddy Farraj, Denise Fraile, and Christiana Lilly. Guests will also enjoy cheering on this year’s Chopstick Challenge jockeys: Dr. Van Williams, Jan Savarick, Nicole Grimes, Steve Clarfield, and Jerry Fedele. Alex Price will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and Brian Altschuler will serve as Judge for the evening’s competition. Community members, sponsors, and supporters are encouraged to attend and experience an evening where fun, food, connection, and purpose come together for a great cause.
