2018 marks the 40th Anniversary of the opening for the Habilitation Center for the Handicapped (HabCenter). The Center began as a dream for families and community supporters to provide an oasis for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And here we are, 40 years later, still fulfilling that dream. On behalf of all of us at the HabCenter, we invite you to join us on April 19, 2018 at 6:30 for our 4th Annual Bloom Fest: “Bloom, Grow, Succeed.”
The beautiful Plant Nursery at the HabCenter will be the center stage for this fabulous evening. Last year, our Farm to Table event provided great wine, craft beers, special bites, live music and a showcase of exceptional auction items. This year’s event promises an even better selection of gourmet treats, craft cocktails and coveted gifts. The celebration will benefit our clients and highlight the needs of our center. Our 4 keystone programs – Manufacturing, Plant Nursery, Programs in Education, Art and Recreation (P.E.A.R.) and Supported Employment – provide our clients with comprehensive, individually tailored vocational training and serves to teach real-world work and life skills. A body and mind may have limitations, but we believe that the power and potential of the human spirit is limitless.
After 40 years of service, we’ve accomplished a great number of things. Our programs have expanded and clients flourish in our jobs and educational training programs, our creative arts programs, and our physical activities such as dance, martial arts, table tennis and basketball. We’ve made significant improvements to one of our multipurpose rooms and are in the midst of renovating and improving another. We’ve also renovated and remodeled the client bathrooms. Our wish list continues to expand and includes the purchase of a new nursery trailer; ensuring that we have great facilities for our clients and customers is a priority. Funding for these projects is only possible with your support.
Please support our fundraising efforts through a sponsorship, donation to our silent auction, or purchase tickets to the 4th Annual Bloom Fest on April 19th. If you have any questions or would like to contribute in other ways, please contact Victoria Rudd at 561-260-0256, firstname.lastname@example.org or Anika Wali at email@example.com. Bloom, Grow, Succeed! Habilitation is for life; with your generous participation, help us achieve our mission to equip adults with disabilities with the necessary skills to lead productive lives. Please join us in keeping this valuable South Florida resource available to the community and future generations.
